3rd August-Day three-The Fast of Daniel

The authority of children

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Word of which it is said:
He came to His own (Israel), and His own (the children of Israel) did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1.11-13
Those born of the Spirit of God have power. They even have the authority of God the Father to forgive sins (John 20.23), how much more, to overcome the evil of this world! (1 John 5.4)
But…
Why do we see people who accept Jesus and yet do not have the power of God’s children?
Because they are born of blood (common to all), or of the will of the flesh (the result of human immorality), or of the will of man (the dreams of parents).
Not one of these children was born of the will of God. Therefore, they do not have the power of God’s children.
Only those born of the Spirit of God can be considered legitimate children of God.
